B SIDE MEANS THE BEST SIDE. R.I.P TO THE LATE GREAT
IF WE ONLY HAD ONE MORE CHANCE
LYRICALLY HE HAD US ALL HYPNOTIZED
This is how we decided to celebrate the life of the late, great Christopher Wallace aka BIGGIE SMALLS. With his music and this artwork he will live on forever. He was greatly appreciated as you will see.
Welcome to another edition of GOT SOUL, where we feature amazing R&B talent from overseas in the UK and pair them up with our superstars here in the US for some friendly competition and healthy dialogue. This segment features Timothy McKenzie better known as Labrinth, a 24 year old singer/songwriter and producer who has generated quite the buzz overseas and 27 million you tube hits later I think its safe to say that he has arrived.
Take a listen and decide for yourself as we match up this young icon to be with the soulful John Legend. I think you would agree that the raspy delivery of both artist warrants this particular match up. Feel free to comment on this match up and let us know if we got it right and don’t forget to vote on who you think has the edge talent wise.
Sam Cooke had 30 U.S top 40 hits from 1957-1964. He also was one of the first African American performers to get involved with the business side of music making when he started a record label as well as a publishing company. Sam Cooke was very active in the civil rights movement in the early sixties as he was tragically shot and killed in December of 1964 at the age of 33. Before his departure from this earth he definitely left a legacy of great music which is still enjoyed by many today. Sam Cooke’s music has been sampled by the likes of Paul McCartney to DJ Funk Master Flex which means that he lives on and will continue to live on crossing over to different genres now as he did during his era.
