A Creative Refuge

This is how we decided to celebrate the life of the late, great Christopher Wallace aka BIGGIE SMALLS.  With his music and this artwork he will live on forever.  He was greatly appreciated as you will see.

imagesCA2RNS4IWelcome to another edition of GOT SOUL, where we feature amazing R&B talent from overseas in the UK and pair them up with our superstars here in the US for some friendly competition and healthy dialogue.  This segment features Timothy McKenzie better known as Labrinth, a 24 year old singer/songwriter and producer who has generated quite the buzz overseas and 27 million you tube hits later I think its safe to say that he has arrived.

Take a listen and decide for yourself as we match up this young icon to be with the soulful John Legend.  I think you would agree that the raspy delivery of both artist warrants this particular match up.  Feel free to comment on this match up and let us know if we got it right and don’t forget to vote on who you think has the edge talent wise.

Sprite Slam Dunk Contest    The dunking sensation Jeremy Evans is just as talented off the court than he is on the court, and he gave us a quite a show when he fused the two during the 2013 NBA All Star Weekends Slam Dunk competition when he soared over a painting of himself dunking a basketball.  A painting that he put just as much time and effort into as he did the dunk which it portrayed.

When Jeremy decides to put the ball down and stop leaping over inanimate objects he will definitely have a bright future creating other pieces of art for people to be amazed at.  His passion for putting a brush to the canvas is just as strong as his passion for putting a ball through the hoop.  At a very young age he knew that drawing/painting was something that would be a part of his life and he has managed to balance basketball and painting in a way that his fans can now appreciate.  The creativity that went into him dunking over a painting that he created is just one of the reasons why he won the dunk contest in 2012, was a finalist yet again in 2013, and why he will continue to give the fans a reason to see him perform in the NBA.

Here are some other pieces of art work created by Mr. Jeremy Evans.  Enjoy.

As the year comes to a close we would like to acknowledge some of the biggest records in hip hop and r & b for the year 2012. Vote on your top songs of the year and see if your song comes out on top.

Dave Chappelle breaks his silence after a  long unexplained hiatus from show business.  He walked away from a reported $55 million dollar deal with Comedy Central to continue to produce his self titled show and we all wondered why.  Asking ourselves and others how could he in the prime of his life just walk away from that kind of money and power.  Well there is no need to wonder any longer, he explains in great detail exactly what went wrong in our eyes, but what was right in his.  And he does this IN HIS OWN WORDS.

The beautiful young woman seen dancing ever so gracefully during the Prince performance on the George Lopez Show is the phenomenal talent Misty Copeland. Simply put, her movements represent Elegance In Motion. New to the pop culture scene Misty Copeland is no stranger to the big stage. She has performed on the worlds grandest venue,Madison Square Garden with Prince on several occassions. She just so happens to be the third african american female soloist and the first in two decades for the world renowned American Ballet Theatre Dance Company . Thats right, she is a ballerina,a ballerina who caught the eye of one of the greatest musical icons of this era.
The collaboration between the two is an example that real talent and true art transcends all boundaries.
